Abnormal molecular processes in the initial stages of clinical disease disrupt the normal interdependence between function and structure of the cardiovascular system.Attenuation of functional responses to physiologic challenges (i.e., vasodilator stress) reveal already existing anatomical abnormalities or,importantly, early functional disturbances of developing pre-clinical disease.
