Developing and Implementing a Bilingual Mobile Application of English for Hospitality for Chinese EF

　　The purpose of the study was to develop a mobile application of English for hospitality.The application included two topics,Food & Beverage and Hotel,and was developed based on Mayer's principles of multimedia learning.The mobile application mainly focused on listening comprehension,vocabulary,and phrases comprehension.The mobile application was implemented,as a trial,in a classroom of English as a foreign language(EFL)for 29 freshmen of Applied Foreign Languages Department at a university in Taiwan.A mobile assisted language learning(MALL)approach combined with instructional activities was conducted.According to students' responses from the questionnaire survey,the design and development of the mobile application met Chapelle's(1998)criteria for development of multimedia CALL.In addition,most of students were satisfied with integrative language practice provided by the mobile application and they would like to continue to use it.Meanwhile,instructional activities given after students' using the application such as dictation and role-play,helped them improve their content knowledge and communication skills.
