Maintaining iron hemostasis is essential in human health. It has been long speculated that iron imbalance might be associated with tumorigenesis. However, the causal relationship and whether dysregulation of iron metabolic pathway affects cancer formation has not been firmly established. To explore the role of gene-iron metabolic pathways related to cancer susceptibilities, we investigated the association of the interactions between gene variants and dietary intake with digestive cancer risks.Furthermore, we carried out additional experimental studies to identify the gene-iron metabolic pathways related to upper digestive cancer susceptibility.
