A new method for characterization of the blend ratio of cotton/terylene is developed on the basis of pyrolysis gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.A vertical microfurnace pyrolyzer (Frontier Lab PY 2020iD, Fukushima, Japan) was directly attached to a gas chromatograph (Thermo Finnigan, trace GC ultra, Austin, TX, USA) equipped with a flame ionization detector (FID) and mass spectrometer.Fiber samples (0.02 g) and silica sands (4.00 g) were mixed and ground into powder.Then, 0.04 g powder was added to a small platinum cup.The cup was first mounted on the waiting position of the pyrolyzer near room temperature, and then dropped into the heated center of the pyrolyzer maintained at 550 ℃ under the flow of nitrogen cartier gas.The column temperature was initially set at 50 ℃ and then programmed up to 300 ℃ at a rate of 5 ℃/min, maintained at 300 ℃ for 10 min.A UA-5 capillary column (Frontier Lab, Fukushima, Japan) (30 m × 0.25 mm i.d.) coated with 5% dimethylpolysiloxane, 0.25 mm film thickness were used for the separation.
