Objective: To explore a novel strategy to fabricate tissue engineered cartilage with the shape of human nasal alar by using bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) macroaggregate and evaluate the feasibility of creating 3-D cartilage equivalents with internal support and external scaffold.Methods: Rabbit BMSCs were expanded and induced by transforming growth factor-β1 to improve chondrocyte phenotype of BMSCs.BMSCs macroaggregate were obtained by continuous culture and wrapped against PLGA support in the shape of human nasal alar.The constructs were transferred into the porous metallic cabinet and incubated in spinner flask for 8 weeks and cartilage formation was investigated by gross inspection and histological, biochemical,biomechanical examination.
