Sarain A is a complex polycyclic alkaloid whose unique strucmre as well as a variety of biological activities has attracted many synthetic chemists.We have achieved construction of the 13-membered ring and the diazatricycloundecane core through a series of efficient key reactions, including intramolecular cycloaddition of the 8-membered nitrone.Further details of our synthetic studies will be discussed.
