　　Tetracycline and its degradation product, 4-epianhydrotetracycline (EATC) are routinely analysed in tetracycline drug products as specified according to the USP monograph General Chapter 226 or by the assay method in the tetracycline HCl monograph.The High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method employs an L7 C8 column and a mobile phase containing ammonium oxalate, phosphate buffer and dimethylformamide.Both methods have been published now for some time and are in need of modernization.
