Alzheimers disease(AD)is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that is characterized by the conformational transition of amyloid-β(Aβ)into soluble oligomers, protofibrils and fibrils, which accumulate to form insoluble plaques during the abnormal aggregation process.Interestingly,Aβ is one of a few neuropathological hallmarks with blood-brain barrier permeability, via two transporters, lipoprotein receptor-related protein(LRP-1)and receptor for advanced glycation end products(RAGE).
