Compared to commercial silica fiber,the multi-component glass fiber possesses lower phonon energy,wider transmission edge in mid-infrared region,and higher rare-earth ions solubility for high gain per unit length.In the past decade,many efforts have been made to develop the~2μrm multi-component glass fiber lasers [1-4].Germanate glass is one of promising candidates for mid-infrared optical applications.In this work,a germanate glass double-cladding single-mode fiber is designed and fabricated by rod-in-tube technique.The fiber core is doped with 2 wt%Tm2O3.The background loss of the fiber at 1310 nm was measured to be 2.2 dB/m,which was reduced by 30%in comparison to our previous work [5].The continuous wave laser performance is investigated with in-pump light at 1590 nm in an all-fiber configuration.The slope efficiency of 19-cm long germanatefiber is~56%.The maximum output at 1.9 μm can be up to 313 mW at pump power of 635 mW.
