  Aside from other target applications,organic field-effect transistors(OFETs)are highly promising devices for the detection of chemical and biological species.Many electro-active organic compounds can be tailored for enhanced sensitivity and selectivity with respect to a target analyzer.Moreover,they are often solution-processable at low temperatures,thereby enabling the use of cost-effective fabrication methods for the realization of smart(disposable)sensors for the emerging fields of biomedical-,food-and environmental monitoring and diagnostics.
