Electroacupuncture is a form of acupuncture therapy that involves the application of electrical pulses of varying frequencies and intensities from an electrical device to the inserted acupuncture needles.The overall treatment goals are the same in classical and electroacupuncture: pain relief and Qi balance and harmonization.However, compared to traditional acupuncture, electroacupuncture produces a stronger overall stimulation than insertion of needles to the appropriate points due to the external electrical pulses.
