Objective: The goal of this study was to compare the difference of curative effect between using electric heating Bian-stone and box moxibustion on treating low back pain(LBP) which related with Chinese medical pathogenic factors cold and dampness and make evaluation for these two therapies.Method: 41 patients which came from two medical centers were enrolled in this study and were distributed randomly into two groups, electric heating Bian-stone group and box moxibustion group.All the patients were heating treated on bilateral UB23 and UB40 using four electric heating Bian-stones or four box moxibustion with same size under a course of 10 treatments.The curative effects were evaluated by LBP score and cold-dampness score.Results: The result showed that both LBP score and cold-dampness score decreased significantly after the two therapies while there was no significant difference on the change rates of the two scores between the two groups which implied a similar therapeutic efficacy.More patients and doctors thought that electric heating Bianstone is more comfortable, handleability and better environment.Conclusion: Based on the similar effectiveness and because of its safety, handleability and pollution-less, electric heating Bian-stone is a recommendable new therapy ofhigh-tech acupuncture.
