Most of the biological experiments are performed on a large number of cells in assumption that the same type of cells would behave similar and the outcome is an average of all cells. Many studies recently have found that same type of cell can behave differently under similar conditions when analyzed separately. These differences can have important role in their functions and health.Traditional experimental approaches that study only population level characteristics may obscure some important information. In order to uncover fundamental biological principles and improve the detection and treatment of dieses, new single cell approaches are required.
