Junctional Ectopic Tachycardia (JET) is the most common postoperative arrhythmia seen in pediatric patients after congenital heart repair; its etiology is largely unknown and may originate in the immature atrioventricular (AV) node because of combined post-ischemic damage and effect of postoperative dopamine administration. Our objective was to compare the susceptibility of immature AV nodal cells (AVNCs) to post-ischemic insult with those of adolescent AV and immature sinoatrial (SANCs) nodal cells.
