Flavonoids compounds play important roles in tea tastes and human health. The productions of lignin and flavonoids in tea plant may be regulated by some transcriptions factors and regulatory proteins such as MYB,BHLH and WD40.Recently two new R2R3-MYB transcription factors(named as CsMYB4-5 and CsMYB4-6 respectively)were cloned from tea plant, which belonged to the fourth subgroup according to the Arabidopsis classification and were predicted to suppress lignin and flavonoids biosynthesis.Expression analysis showed that both MYB genes had a higher expression level in root contrasted to stem and leaves of tea plant.
