Beijing has suffered from agro-drought lasting 12 years.Optical satellite remote sensing technology has been widely used in agro-drought monitor and showed premise of in global change research.Based on three remote sensing drought indexes, including Vegetation Supplying Water Index(VSWI),Energy&Temperature Ratio Index(ETRI),and Temperature Vegetation Drought Index(TVDI),combined with soil relative humidity data observed in field by instruments,we retrieved soil relative humidity of farmland in Beijing.First, correlations of the three indexes related to measured soil relative humidity and precipitation volume were calculated in meteorological scale to validate and compare their feasibility and ability to monitoring agro-drought in Beijing. And then,we proposed a new practical approach which integrated the retrieved result by VSWI,ETRI and TVDI and applied them in different landuse types according to the drought indexes’ applicable character to produce integrated drought monitoring map supported by Geographic Information System(GIS),on basis of which we evaluated drought situation comprehensively by using Region Drought Index.Detailed analyses of spatial drought dynamics have been carried out through drought index maps.
