　　“Flash sintering” was first reported by Cologna,Rashkova and Raj in 2010.It occurs when an electrical potential difference is applied across a powder compact and is characterized by a power surge at a specific temperature or potential difference,accompanied by very rapid densification.The phenomenon has proved easy to reproduce in a wide range of ceramics but the mechanisms involved remain controversial.
