Soil wettability impacts soil hydrology.Soil becomes water repellent when the solid particles are covered with hydrophobic organic coatings.Although it is recognized that water repellency impacts soil hydraulic properties, it is still uncertain how water repellency influences soil water retention curves (SWRC).In this study, we measured the desorption SWRC (pF 0-4.2) and the main drying and wetting hysteresis loop (pF =0-2.0) with a pressure plate and a sand box, respectively, for hydrophobic sand, loam and silt loam and their paired hydrophilic counterparts.
