Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP)is now recognized as the multi-functional neuropeptide in various organs.We have examined the effect of PACAP for saliva secretion.In this study, we compared the parenchymal structure and the distribution of PACAP receptor, PAC 1 R, in three major salivary glands;parotid (PG), submandibular (SMG), sublingual (SLG) glands of young (8 weeks old) and old (8 months old) male C57BL/6 mouse.In PG, PAC1R was localized in the striated duct.
