Development of the efficient adjoint generation of a higher-order ice sheet model using Algorithmic Differentiation(AD)methods is presented.Recent innovations are adjoint generation with open-source AD software and the implementation of a specialized treatment of the fixed-point problem for ice velocities which decreases computation time and lowers memory overhead, which are important considerations for large scale simulation.Recent assimilation results using time-dependent remote sensing data is also presented.
