Kiwifruit, Actinidia spp., has been categorized as climacteric fruit because exogenous ethylene induces fruit ripening.However,we have demonstrated that low temperature exposure stimulates ripening of kiwifruit in ethylene independent way, indicating kiwifruit can ripen in both ethylene dependent and independent systems.
