Bacteria stem blockage is considered as a common postharvest disorder often occurs in the basal stem-ends of various cut flowers,which may seriously impede water uptake and transport in vascular tissues, and finally damage their ornamental quality and commercial value.It has been shown that postharvest treatments with nano-silver (NS) evidently alleviate bacteria related blockage in the stem-ends of several mainstream cut flowers and therefore extend their longevity, including carnations (Dianthus caryphyllus).
