The objective of the present study is investigated the effects of different light sources, intensity and photoperiod conditions on Chinese cabbage and kale growth and their glucosinolates contents.Our objective was to evaluate the effects of light sources Red: Blue: White (RBW), Red:White (RW), Red: Blue (RB) only kale, Fluorecentce (FL) , intensity (100, 130, 160, 190, 220 μmol.m2.s-1) and photoperiod (12/12, 14/10, 16/8, 18/6, 20/4 hours) on Chinese cabbage and kale growth including leaf length, leaf width (only kale), leaf weight and glucosinolates.Plants were cultivated in a plant factory and the leaf samples were collected at 2 weeks and 4 weeks after transplanting of seedlings to measure their glucosinolates contents and growth parameters.The results showed 160 and 190 were greatest on kale growth at 2 weeks and 4 weeks, respectively.We also concluded that RBW, 20/4 resulted in the positive effect on Chinese cabbage growth at 2 weeks and RBW, 130, 18/6 at 4 weeks.In addition, the results showed RBW, 220, 20/4 and FL,160, 18/6 were greatest for the glucosinolates of Chinese cabbage at 2 weeks and 4 weeks,respectively.We also concluded that RBW, 130, 18/6 and RW, 130, 14/10 resulted in the positive effects for the glucosinolates of kale at 2 weeks and 4 weeks, respectively.
