  Nanophotonic integrated circuits (NPICs) allow for realizing complex optical functionality in a scalable fashion. By relying on established fabrication techniques developed for the electronics industry system components can be fabricated with high yield and high reproducibility. Besides applications in classical optics and telecommunications NPICs are receiving increasing attention for photonic quantum technologies.
