From Environment-Behavior perspective,this paper selects Dalian Railway Station North Plaza with more concentrated contradictions as the research object,and by scientific research and systems analysis,aims to reveal its inner relation between behavioral characteristics of space using and the external environment,and then to find out the main influence factors of urban public space energy around traffic hubs,so as to provide reference for improving the space use state of similar region.Space use behavior survey is the core of this study,mainly using the method of non-participant observation.By way of fixed observation and investigation record sheet,the survey illustrated,video camera or other recording mode,the investigation was conducted simultaneously in divided nine patches at the selected five time nodes.In this paper the survey data is specifically analyzed from three aspects : user density distribution,user group composition and use behavior type.Through the survey and analysis,some research conclusions were summarized,which reflect the main characteristics of space use of the North Plaza and some realistic problems,caused by the lack of sufficient attention to the usersbehavior demand during planning and design,or failing to respond to the particularity of the urban environment around traffic hub in plaza design.At the end of this paper,some space design suggestions were proposed.
