In this paper,a comprehensive thermodynamic evaluation based on energy and exergy was performed on an entire biomass-derived light olefins system established using ASPEN PLUS.The system linked bio-methanol synthesis through entrained-flow gasification and methanol to olefins(MTO).Mass and energy balances were calculated and compared with the previous work. Each process involved in the system was analyzed by examining the location, magnitude and cause of exergy loss.Further analyses were subsequently performed on the processes of large inefficiencies.According to the parametric investigation based on energetic and exergetic efficiencies, optimal conditions were proposed to improve the overall performance.
