Purpose: Neuropeptide Y(NPY)is a potential modulator of bone remodeling.It is unknown whether its expression is related with specific biochemical stimulations.Then,we investigated the effects of corticosterone and acetylcholine(ACh)on the expression of NPY in the MLO-Y4 cells.Methods:(1)MLO-Y4 cells were incubated with corticosterone and/or RU486 for 1,3,6,12 and 24 h;(2)MLO-Y4 cells were treated by ACh and/or receptor antagonists including atropine,mecamylamine and d-tubocurarine for 1,2,3,4 and 5 days;(3)Then we detected the viability and proliferation of cells,as well as the gene and protein expression of NPY by real-time PCR assay and western blotting analysis respectively.
