Cell sheet technology attracts more and more attentions in recent years.Cells were firstly cultured in a dish to be a cell sheet consists of cells and extra cellular matrix, and then harvested and utilized for further tissue engineering. In this work,photo-responsible TiO2 nanostructure films with controlled microstructure and composition were prepared with wet chemical methods, and tested for cell sheets harvesting through light illumination. The effects of microstructure, crystalline phase, and other factors on cell sheet harvesting were characterized and discussed. It was found the film was initially rather hydrophobic and then turns into hydrophilic after certain time of ultraviolet(365 nm,UVA)illumination.Continuous cell sheets, which formed on the surface after certain time of culture, could be easily obtained after 5~30 min UVA illumination [1].The detached cells showed good activity and could be used for further cell culture. It was found film microstructure, the content of different crystalline phases of TiO2 and incorporation of C quantum dots could effectively reduce the illumination time needed to cell sheet detachment [2].The reason was ascribed to the effective control of protein molecule conformation through light responses of TiO2 [3].It is believed that such control on protein molecule conformation through light responses of TiO2 nanostructure film could be widely utilized in biomedical application.
