The objective of carried out model studies was to indicate the optimal discharge electrode construction for highly efficient precipitation of fly ashes coming out from coal-fired grate boilers. In view of anticipated more restricted dust emission limits (IED),as well as expected fine particle emission limitation, there is predicted wider application of ESPs in cleaning combustion gases after grate boilers.Fly ashes from grate boilers generally contain high portion of unburned coal(8 to 25%)what significantly lowers its electric resistivity, well below 109Ω cm.It has been already pointed out at the 70s of 20th century that contents of unburned coal in the fly ash above 20%reduces the ESP collection efficiency.
