Plaubelia burmensis was selected to replace the illegitimate name P.preinvoluta, with its distribution range expanded from Myanmar to southwest China.A detailed description of morphological features as well as illustrations for the species were presented, and the diagnostic character states for P.burmensis and its siblings, especially the P.involuta, were highlighted.Phylogenetic analyses of molecular data using DNA markers from three genomic compartments (cp rps4, mt nadS, nr ITS and nr 26S) resulted Plaubelia in Trichostomoideae sister to Hyophila involuta.It was suggested that further samples and moleculer evidence were required to reveal the relationship between Plaubelia and Hyophila.
