The fast pyrolysis of biomass material was performed by using pyrolysis-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(Py-GC/MS).The analyses were performed to study the effects of pyrolysis temperature on the distribution of the pyrolytic products.During pyrolysis pine, cashew nut shell and mangrove was used as biomass materials, the pyrolysis temperature used were 400 ℃,500 ℃,600 ℃,700 ℃ and 800 ℃.The set time for pyrolysis was 2 s.The temperatures that produces maximum amount of volatiles were 700 ℃ and 800 ℃,which can be named as suitable fast pyrolysis temperatures.Several compounds were observed, they are grouped into gas, alcohol, aldehyde, phenols, acid, piperazine, alkyl, benzene, ester, kitones, furan, amine, hydrazine and pyran. The compounds were derived from hemicellulose, cellulose and lignin, also halogens were observed during analysis due to chlorine content in biomass. It has observed the products composition were different to each biomass material. There are some products favoured at low temperature such as acid, while gas was increasing as temperature increased and phenols were observed to reach maximum level at 600 ℃.
