Five bacterial strains, designated as strain INI-1,TAP-1,SS-1,Soil-1, and Ter-2, capable of degrading triazophos, were isolated by incubation experiment with enrichment culture and streak plate method from sewage sludge in a wastewater treating system of organophosphorus pesticide produced by Funong Group Co.in Jianou, Fujian, southeastern China.Further studies were carried out on the strain TAP-1 with highest biodegradation rate.Strain TAP-l was identified as Bacillus sp.based on the phentype, physiological and biochemical characteristics, and the phylogenetic analysis of 16S rDNA sequence.Genbank number for the strain TAP-1 was Bacillus sp.
