Ecological Psychology is a discipline to consider the relationship between man and nature by combining ecology and psychology.Eco-psychology proposed that ecological unconscious is human nature and desire to contact with nature is human ecological instinct.Environment has an important psychological value to people,so it calls for attention to protect the ecological environment from the perspective of mental health. From the perspective of ecological psychology, setting sufficient amount of open space in the city, guiding citizens to dialogue with nature and letting the citizens immersed in nature, have a positive effect for solving the ecological unconscious repression of the public and promoting healthy society development. However, the transition from theory to action is subject to the limited open space resources and how to use comprehensive investigation, evaluation and design strategies as well we specific implementation issues. This paper takes the development of Zurich open space as an example, discusses the method of how to apply the concept of eco-psychology in guiding open space design in the planning and implementation aspects.
