In recent 20 years,the occurance of the complication associated with the CPB,an attack which can lead to injury or death,is decreasing gradually (from 1/1000 to 1/1500 in America,Europe and Australia).But,even today there are still some problems in the operation of the CPB and the neglect of those problems still exists.According to various surveys with surgeons and perfusionists in different countries,the major problems are related to the quality of the oxygenator (poor oxygenation combined with the difficulty of eliminating CO2),impaired coagulation,allergy to medication (such as protamine),instrument failure.Plus,the insufficient training of perfusionists and the overload of the perfusionists make the situation worse.
