Obesity is a public health problem in both developed and developing countries.The negative effects of obesity on reproductive physiology have been highlighted in recent years.The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of porcine obesity index(POI),sex hormones and peptide hormones on litter size in different strains of minipigs before ovulation.Blood samples were collected in 8,10 and 12 months minipigs respectively,under sedation for testing sex hormones(follicle stimulating hormone,luteinizing hormone,estradiol,progesterone,testosterone,prolactin) and peptide hormones(insulin-like growth factor,glucagon,cortisol,growth hormone,free thyroxine,three free triiodothyronine,insulin,leptin) before ovulation.In addition,this study also measured weight,abdominal circumference,neck circumference,body length and then calculated POI.
