Aim: Astrocytic glutamate transporter GLAST plays a critical role in clearance of extracellular glutamate and prevention of glutamate-induced excitotoxicity.In this study, we used oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) as an in vitro ischemia model to investigate the role of pro-inflammatory cytokine HMGB1 (high-mobility group protein B1) in ischemia-induced impairment in astrocytic GLAST function.
