In addition to functional complications, myocardial infarction (MI) results in a series of mechanical complications, notably, ventricular remodeling, cardiac rupture and left ventricular thrombus (LVT).The mechanism involved is incompletely elucidated and the intrinsic link between these complications remains unclear. We have investigating the mechanism in mice with surgically induced MI.All in vivo procedures were approved by a local animal ethics committee.Hemodynamics was monitored in conscious mice by radiotelemetry to identify cardiac rupture events. The extent of ventricular remodeling was estimated by serial echocardiography.
