Tajikistan is located in the foothills of the Pamir.The climate is continental,a large part of its territory by climatic parameters related to the arid and semiarid zones of the country is arid.Over 40％ of Tajikistans territory is desert or semi desert area.Only a few mountainous areas of the country are in a wet climate zone.Particularly arid areas of the country - it is the Eastern Pamirs,low-lying areas of Sugd and Southern Tajikistan. Modern processes contribute to the development of drought.This leads to an expansion of arid zones in the country.More than just suffering from droughts and southern parts of the country Hisor valley,where there is the greatest number of years (20 years) with medium and severe droughts.This area is increasing every year.The factors contributing to desertification in Tajikistan,are erosion,pasture degradation,deforestation,mining and road construction.Due to global warming is likely that the drought in Tajikistan will occur with greater intensity and frequency,droughts become more frequent and intense.Drought and desertification intensifies the process and reduces biodiversity.
