  Islet transplantation is one of the therapeutic approach for diabetic patients.For an average-size person (70 kg),a typical transplant requires about one million islets,isolated from two donor pancreases.After islets are isolated form a donor,pancreatic beta cells go into apoptosis because of the oxidative stress.To enhance the viability of pancreatic bate cells,we treated pancreatic bate cells line(INS-1) to curcumin,as an anti-oxidant agent.However it is a hydrophobic drug and has low bioavailability.
