　　The scanning ion-conductance microscope (SICM) and the atomic force microscope (AFM) are versatile varieties of scanning probe microscopes for studies of micro-and nano-scale structures.In the SICM setup the sample is submersed in an electrolyte solution, and the ion current through a fine glass pipette is utilized as feedback signal, as the pipette tip is scanned over the sample surface.
