γ-Al2O3 particles have been considered as one of the most promising advanced materials for a variety of applications due to its distinctive chemical, mechanical and thermal properties, such as porous structure, high activity, high temperature stability, and high hardness.In many chemical processes it is used as adsorbents and catalysts or catalyst supports, including the cracking, hydrocracking, and hydrodesulfurition of petroleum feedstocks, as well as coatings, heat-resistant materials, abrasive grains, cutting materials, and advanced ceramics.However, conventional forms of γ-Al2O3 typically exhibit a BET surface area below 250 m2/g and a pore volume less than 0.50 cm3/g.To improve the materials performance nanosized γ-Al2O3 particles have been pursuing by a variety of manufacturing methods, such as sol-gel method, arc discharge, laser ablation, flame spray pyrolysis, etc, and great progress have been made.
