Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, especially Autonomous Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning become very popular in these years in Japan. To reduce road traffic accident further, safety information should be provided to a driver in earlier timing than “avoidance” or “warning” not to come into risky situation. A series of actual running tests was conducted to evaluate the ac- tivation timing and effectiveness of “awareness message. ” From objective analysis, it is considered that the drivers could avoid the obsta- cle with sufficient safety margin thanks to every awareness message. According to the subjective rating, the timing 10 seconds before the obstacle is the best. In this paper, results from objective analyses are limited, and further analyses will be required.
