Misfire detection constitutes an essential ingredient of On Board Diagnostics(OBD)of light-duty vehicles, and the crankshaft speed-based misfire detection is the commonly used method. In this study, for misfire detection, experiments are conducted on a vehicle equipped with a 3-cylinder 1. 0T engine. A combination method to improve the misfire detectionis proposed, and a perform- ance measuremen talgorithm is also introduced for misfire detection performance comparison. Based on the detection performance meas- urement algorithm, the combination method is discussed, and experiments verify that the combination strategy can strength the detection robustness and improve the detection performance.
