  Three accelerometers and three magnetometers are typically used as a part of the measurement-while-drilling (MWD) equipment.But the magnetometers suffer from the deviation of the earths magnetic field by a variety of external factors,and they are expensive and heavy.Fiber-optic gyroscope (FOGs)could perform in oil-drilling applications and are a feasible alternative to the magnetometers.However,the size of present FOG-Based inertial measurement unit is too great to set up within the limited space available downhole and the complex instrument had to be designed to guarantee the stability of the sensor.The solid vibration gyroscope based on Micro-quartz material,as a candidate to the Magnetometer and FOG-Based surveying sensor in MWD,was presented in this paper.A rectangle shape vibrator supported by two rings was used at the vibration beams node.Experiments demonstrated the designed structure was adequately for the isolation of detection motion from excitation motion and showed the feasibility of utilizing the sensor for MWD process downhole.The impact of severe downhole vibration on the performances of sensors was investigated by experiments.The temperature and temperature dynamics on using wavelet multi-resolution analysis is utilized to improve the micro-quartz gyros performance.The suggested micro-quartz gyro-based surveying sensors technique can overcome the earlier shortcoming in the process of assembling and setup,and it offered a new solution of the inertial unit in MWD.
