Reported here are studies involving more than 350 patients showing the high efficacy of intratumoral chemotherapy (ITC) as a debulking procedure in obstructive central lung cancer patients.Additionally ITC has been shown to significantly prolong survival if used as an adjunct to standard treatment options.This minimally invasive procedure involves direct injection of cancer drugs into the tumor mass or involved lymph nodes.Data for 3 studies in more than 30 patients show up to 43% prolonged mean survival (MS) in comparison to expected MS according to UICC 7 data.
