Maize is the most widely grown grain crop throughout the world and drought stress is one of the most important environmental stresses affecting its productivity.In our previously study,overexpression of bHLH TFs ZmPTF 1 in maize improved root development and enhanced biomass and changed root/shoot ratios under phosphate starvation.In this paper,the relationship of ZmPTF1 expression levels and plant drought resistant ability and its mechanisms were studied.Overexpression of ZmPTF 1 enhanced drought tolerance and yield under drought stress largely attribute to the improved root system and the active MEKK-WRKY-ABA signaling pathways.
