Maize (Zea mays L),one of the most productive cereal crops in the world,has tremendous economic and biological significance (Wu and Messing 2014).Mature maize endosperm contains four specialized cell types:aleurone,starch endosperm,transfer layer cell and embryo-surrounding cell (Sabelli and Larkins 2009).The aleurone layer cells accumulate large quantities of minerals including oils and lipids,which qualified the aleurone important functions in the seed development,maturation and germination processes (Becraft and Yi 2011).Although several genes have been found essential in the process of aleurone cell specification,the molecular mechanisms regulating aleurone development remain largely elusive.
