Carbon nanotube supported Ptnanocatalyst was prepared by facile glow discharge plasma reduction operated at room temperature.TEM,XRD and electrochemical measurements all indicated that the plasmareduced Pt catalyst exhibited more uniform distribution and much higher active surface area than Pt catalyst obtained by conventional hydrogen thermal reduction.The plasma reduced Pt/CNT catalysts also achievedabout 3 times conversion in benzyl alcohol aerobic oxidation as the hydrogenreduced Pt/CNT.However,for the turn over frequency (TOF),noobviously difference was found between the plasma and hydrogenreduced Pt/CNT.Therefore,plasma reduction can effectively enhanced Pt dispersion without changing itsintrinsiccatalytic activity,thus remarkably improve the utilization ratio of noble metal.
