In recent years,growing interest has emerged in droplet-based microfluidics with feasibility of individual control on the interested minute analytes or targets on-chip.Among the various droplet operations,swift and homogeneous mixing is one essential while challenging pre-requisite for the precise biological analysis,reproducible trace monitoring,etc.1,2 Herein,we present our recent study on rapid and efficient on-chip micro-droplet transportation,mixing,and dilution actuated via magnetic fields based on a super-hydrophobic and elastic PDMS thin film.3 The proposed methodology requires no on-chip electrodes or surface-wave sources,thus reducing the potential risk of electrochemical contact or burdensome peripheral components.Furthermore,unlike most reported magnetic actuators,the approach here is based on the manipulation of deformable membrane for droplet control,instead of adding paramagnetic components to the droplet and consequently requires no post extraction process.
