The adventitious roots of three inter-species of Echinacea: Echinace Purpurea(Pu), Echinacea angustifolia (Ea) and Echinacea pallida (Pa) were co-cultured in balloon type airlift bioreactors using half strength Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with 1 mg indole-3-butyric acid 1-1 and 50 g sucrose 1-1 for the production of various caffeic acid derivatives.
